Son Marroig

San Marroig was the property of Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria since he bought it in 1867, one of the first efforts of environmental conservation.

The Archduke lived on this estate until the start of World War I, in 1914. The estate was turned into a museum in 1927. It now houses personal objects of the archduke from books to drawings.

One of the main attraction of Son Marroig lies outside, the “mirador des Galliner” is a fantastic lookout composed of eight Ionic columns made by finely worked Carrara marble.

The gardens of Son Marroig are another feature, they are very well kept and the whole estate offers great views to the Tramuntana mountains and the Sa Foradada peninsula.
